There is a deer hunt scheduled to take place on
the grounds of the Norristown State
Hosp.,(Montgomery County Park System), this
fall. Hunters will be selected by lottery.
Upon applying for an application at the park
office I was informed that I could NOT
participate unless I have recently completed a
hunter's safety course.
I explained that I explained that I am
sixty-five (65) years of age and have been
hunting for over fifty (50) years and have been
an active law enforcement officer for fourty-two
(42) years. I was told this was a
requirement of the Pa. Game Commission.
Were can I expect to find and complete a course
at this time. Keeping safety in mind, I
still think this is a dumb requirement for older
hunters. It discriminates against older
hunters and makes it much more easier for
younger and new hunters to participate. No
course was ever required for the older people.
It just seems dumb to attempt to introduce this
and enforce it at this time.
The park attendant supplied me with a affidavit
form. He suggested filling it out and
stating that I had completed a course some time
in the past. Submitting this form to the
game commission with $10.00 would get me card
showing evidence of prior course attendance.
NO WONDER EVERYONE HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE GAME
COMMISSION.
