I posted this on
www.predatormaster.com because
someone brought up the topic of gun
mounted lights in PA and there is a
referral to someone else's problems as
they think the game commission will let
them go free using a gun mounted light
for night predator hunting. LOL, LOL,
LOL
Its just stupid I guess to want to hunt
by yourself at night and be able to
identify your target before and as you
shoot. I'm one of those people that need
both hands on my gun to hold, aim, and
shoot it. There must be something wrong
with me I guess since I wasn't born with
that 3rd arm to hold the light while
everything else is going on. Now about
that gun mounted light thing again???
I have been hunting and fishing for 30
years now and PA game commission officers
are nothing short of money hungry pests
that don't care about safety nearly as
much as they care about money and I can
prove it.
One day while fishing "Long Arm Dam"
near Gettysburg, PA, some friends had
their boat on the water as did my son
and I. The game commission approached my
friends when they docked and proceeded
to "read a list" of questions regarding
safety items you need with you. Once
they found something to charge them
with, that was the end of questioning
for them. My friend was charged because
he didn't have a horn on his 14ft Jon
boat in this electric only lake.
The game commission then approached me
and read down the same list until they
could find something to charge me with.
I made it one question past my friend on
this list. I had life preservers for
everybody on the boat but did not have
my throw able PFC.
The point is that Safety had nothing to
do with the charges. After they had
something to charge us with, the
questioning was over and they left. I
have no idea how many items they can
check you for, but they only cared about
one. MONEY,MONEY, MONEY. The proof is in
the pudding.
Don't expect the game commission to let
you go right away for the light on the
scope. Chances are they will let you go
but not until they make their gas and
doughnut money. And yes I do use a scope
mounted light so I must be an outlaw
tooooo.
I called Huntingdon Game Commission
because I couldn't find anything in the
Hunting and Trapping guide on setting
out decoys for predators. The officer I
spoke with said and I quote, "I guess if
its not in the rules and regs book then
it must be ok". WRONG. I argued that the
answer he gave me was unacceptable and
after going back and forth with this guy
about it he finally asked somebody else
and they said no decoys. He then put me
on hold again and came back to say the I
could use decoys but they must be the
same type of animal you are calling. You
can only use a rabbit decoy to call in a
rabbit and a coyote decoy to call a
coyote.
Once again, don't trust the PA Game
Commission for anything other than
vacuuming out your wallet!!
Another time I had a sick skunk trapped
in my shed and called the PA game
commission to dispose of it and told them
it wasn't acting right. They were
notified of where I lived, {in the boro
limits } and they told me shoot it even
though its against the law to discharge
a firearm within the boro limits. Once
again, Don't trust the PA Game
Commission for anything other then
consuming your fundage.
To anybody this offends, sorry. These
are my own run-ins with the game commission and they have left me with a
false sense of trust for them and their
actions.
